A worn magnetic gasket lets cold air escape, raises energy costs, and can cause icing. Replacing it is usually a one-person job.

Remove the old gasket

  1. Open the door and support it if hinges are worn.
  2. Pull the dart out of the retainer channel starting at a corner. Work around the perimeter steadily—do not tear the dart if you need it as a profile sample.
  3. Clean debris from the channel with a soft brush.

Install the new gasket

  1. Warm the new gasket to room temperature so it is flexible.
  2. Press the dart into the channel at each corner first, then fill the sides.
  3. Close the door and check for even magnetic pull on all sides. Adjust hinges/latches if the door rubs or gaps remain.

Shop replacement seals by brand in Gaskets by Manufacturer, or browse refrigeration hardware for latches and hinges that affect seal pressure.
